Update

This is going to be short. This is going to be an update on Doug. Doug evidently wasn't abandoned but lost. His owners came to find him. If you don't know or remember who Doug is; here's a picture and I recommend you look at our last post. Thanks for reading! -Cajsa Morse

Recent Developments

Even though its not my day to post, I thought that this was news worthy. At 5:35 today I reached the end of my street, I was walking home from a volunteer babysitting job, when I noticed a border collie, however I can't be sure because, just sitting there. He appeared to be a house dog, and was well trained, he even had a mark where his collar should have been. However his fur was matted and dirty and he had some pink balls on his front left leg, his left eye is a clear blue with something come out of it while his other eye is brown. I stood by him and tried to get him to follow me down the street to my house but he wouldn't budge. After just a few minutes someone came happened  to pass me on their bike. They stopped and I asked if they knew who the dogs owner was they didn't and rode off the way they came to tell their parent. Just a few minutes after that some younger kids came by and I asked them the same question. One of them already knew the dog was there but didn...

The Facts

Now I know that none of us like hearing the cold hard truth about animal abuse but I'm here to tell you what you should know. Today I will be covering dog-fighting and other basic facts. Dog-fighting is a blood-sport put on for the entertainment of others. Fighting dogs are typically raised on short, heavy chains and are also regularly conditioned for fighting through the use of drugs. Many people who start out as street fighters think that they can make money by breeding and selling dogs for fighting, but most of these animals end up abandoned, abused, or killed. However, if these animals find a home, they are put onto a strict diet and exercise routine to condition their bodies for fighting. Some dogs are put on a treadmill to run while their owners leave. These dogs have their ears cropped and their tails docked close to their bodies. When these dogs are in a fight there are many people betting on them to win. However, if a dog loses their owner may lash out and brutal actio...

Story of the Week

If you are an active anti-animal abuse activist you might recall a story from 2015 about a puppy who was abused and beaten with a shovel and then buried up to his neck in snow. After I received an email, because of my subscription to ASPCA, (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) announcing that the puppy's abuser has been sentenced to 1 year in jail. Though I don't know the exact details of the story I decided to do some research and right about it. The puppy's original name was Lacey. She was punched and beaten with a shovel and finally buried neck deep in the snow. Police answered a 911 call about Lacey at 3am. When they got to her she was crying and whimpering. The police took her to ASPCA who performed a critical life saving medical life treatment. She was given a new name, Peanut Butter, and placed into a loving family. She is doing just fine. However, her tragic experience will remain stuck in several minds for ever. We hope her story as touched...
